Research Interests

We study (i) the role of MFS, MATE, ABC and RND-type drug efflux pumps in antimicrobial resistance, (ii) the additional physiological roles that these systems can have, and (iii) the mechanisms by which these protein complexes recognize antimicrobials and mediate their efflux from the cell. Our research involves biochemical, pharmacological and structural approaches. We aim to generate new drugs that bypass recognition or that act as inhibitors of efflux pumps.
