Research

I am interested in microbial genomics and the spread and evolution of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria, particularly those of clinical relevance. I enjoy working with healthcare staff in order to improve responses to outbreaks within hospital settings using genomic approaches. I also would like to help develop new methods to reduce transmission and improve patient diagnostics and outcomes. I am also interested in the characterisation of bacteria, on both a large scale (e.g. global epidemiology) and on a single genome basis (e.g. mobile genetic elements).

EBPOD Postdoctoral Fellow, at EMBL-EBI
My research focus is the translational application of bacterial whole genome sequencing in clinical environments.
