An Interdisciplinary Research Centre at the University of Cambridge

Registrations are OPEN for the next Cambridge Infectious Diseases Annual Symposium, on the 27th March 2026. This will be an in-person event, at Robinson College.
For those unfamiliar with it, the annual symposium is a one-day event in which CID brings together its members to learn about the network's research. There will be talks from junior and senior researchers, combined with flash talks and poster presentations from PhDs and postdocs; with representation from different Schools, embracing CID interdisciplinarity.
It is an excellent opportunity for our members to:
  • Hear about Cambridge’s strengths across infectious diseases;
  • Gain new perspectives and ideas to advance their research;
  • Engage with our major interdisciplinary themes and discuss project ideas;
  • Network with colleagues and find new collaborators.
This year we will have contributions on pandemic preparedness, viral threats, bacterial omics, and resilient and equitable healthcare for infectious diseases.

Our keynote speaker will be Yonatan Grad, Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

We will also feature an invited talk by Fiona Lethbridge, Senior Press Manager at the Science Media Centre, on communicating epidemics.

Some of the confirmed speakers based in Cambridge are:
  • Betty Chung (Pathology)
  • Brian Ferguson (Pathology/CRASSH)
  • Diana Fusco (Physics)
  • Charlotte Hammer (Centre for the Study of Existential Risk)
  • João Joaquim (History and Philosophy of Science)
  • Jason Ladner (visiting researcher at Veterinary Medicine, usually Associate Professor at Northern Arizona University)
  • Nick Matheson (Medicine)
  • Katherine Sharrocks (Cambridge University Hospitals/NHS)
  • Maciek Wiatrak (Medicine)
