In the 2022 edition of the Cambridge Festival, Cambridge Infectious Diseases joined COVID-19 Genomics UK (COG-UK) to contribute with an online talk: 'A conversation with the SARS-CoV-2 variant hunters', by Prof Sharon Peacock and Dr Katerina Galai.
There, Professor Peacock and Dr Galai introduced the public to the rapid formation of COG-UK at the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, and explained how it has evolved since then. They also discussed the challenges of genomic sequencing of SARS-CoV-2, tracking COVID-19 transmission, and answered questions regarding variants or the effectiveness of vaccines.
