What I do:

I am a medical doctor, specialised in Public Health Medicine (consultant level), and an applied infectious diseases epidemiologist who have worked in humanitarian crises with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders in Amazonia-Brazil and Yemen.

I am currently specialising in infectious disease and phylodynamic modelling for emerging pathogens and vector-borne diseases (arboviruses) at the University of Cambridge (PhD candidate).

As a travel medicine expert and an effective member of the Portuguese National Immunization Technical Advisory Group, I am interested in designing and evaluating strategies for public health response to (re-)emerging pathogens and vaccine preventable diseases.

Research Interests:

  • Emerging pathogens epidemiology
  • Arboviruses dynamics
  • Disease ecology
