An Interdisciplinary Research Centre at the University of Cambridge

About the Annual Symposium:

We are happy to announce the upcoming Cambridge Infectious Diseases Annual Symposium (previously known as Meeting of Minds), the 4th April 2023. This will be an in-person event, at Queens' College (see Map).

For those unfamiliar with it, the annual symposium is a one-day event in which CID brings together its members to learn about the network's research. There will be talks from senior researchers, combined with flash talks and poster presentations from ECRs; with representation from all Schools, embracing CID interdisciplinarity.

It is an excellent opportunity for our members to:

  • Hear about Cambridge’s strengths across infectious diseases;
  • Gain new perspectives and ideas to advance their research;
  • Engage with our major interdisciplinary themes and discuss project ideas;
  • Network with colleagues and find new collaborators.

Symposium sessions:

This year, we have two invited speakers:

They will be part of the starting session on Antimicrobial Resistance, which will also feature a talk by Tanmay Bahrat (MRC LMB).

There will be three more sessions covering research areas of focus within the CID network. These are:

  • Vaccinology: with Caroline Trotter (Pathology), Henrik Salje (Genetics), and Sarah Hughes-McLure (ICRC; prev Geography).
  • Built Environments: with Ronita Bardhan (Architecture), Shaun Fitzgerald (Engineering), and Matthew Gandy (Geography).
  • Climate and Disease: with Anna Protasio (Pathology), and Romola Davenport (Geography).
