Biography

Dr Estee Torok is Senior Program Officer in Malaria / Global Health at the Gates Foundation where  she leads the malaria genomic surveillance portfolio. She is also an Honorary Infectious Diseases Physician & Clinical Microbiologist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and an Affiliated Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge. She has 30 years clinical research experience in malaria, TB, HIV, viral hepatitis, antimicrobial resistance and COVID-19 and microbial genomics. She has published 3 books and over 250 scientific research articles (h-index 89). She has led postgraduate courses in clinical medicine, microbiology, genomics and antimicrobial resistance at the University of Cambridge and the Wellcome Sanger Institute and is highly committed to diversity, equity and inclusion.
